With combined shipping effort of FedEx, Operation Shoebox, items will get to their intended destination, the hands of America’s soldiers Tempe, Ariz. – September 6, 2006—bluemedia (www.bluemedia.com), a Tempe-based vehicle graphic and large format printing firm, today announced, it was able to pack two palate sized containers of supplies for men and women on active military duty in Iraq. bluemedia held their call-to-action event August 23, 2006 and had such an overwhelming response, from the Valley, that they continued collecting items well into last week. The 4ft x 4ft x 4ft, graphically decorated, containers hold: DVDs, MP3 sound systems, portable DVD players, and essential items including: socks, shampoo, and writing pads, collected and organized by bluemedia. Operation Shoebox was designed specifically to raise support and funds for vital personal care items for US troops; they ship more than 2,000 shoebox size packages a month. “bluemedia thought about off the wall items the troops would be excited to receive,” said Jared Smith President and Spokesperson for bluemedia. “They receive all categories of items from organizations around the country, with things citizens normally wouldn’t want for themselves,” Smith added, “the supplies we collected will be useful and at the same time provide valuable entertainment.” On Friday, September 1, 2006, FedEx graciously picked up the massive containers from bluemedia headquarters to deliver them to Operation Shoebox in Florida. Operation Shoebox will have the containers airlifted to Iraq in the coming weeks. They will be presented to the troops stationed on ground. bluemedia designed and wrapped each container with custom graphics produced in the company's large format printing and production facility.
