Tundra Wall Mural “Breaks Ground” at U.S. Airways Arena

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

img_3579.jpg Cramer-Krasselt, a Phoenix creative agency, chose to work with bluemedia to execute creative for the Toyota Tundra wall mural in the arena concourse. The mural incorporates floor graphics to create the illusion of the Tundra cracking the actual floor of the arena due to it’s new size and awesomeness. To complete the illusion, photography of the arena tile flooring was incorporated into the mural.dsc_0066.JPGThis was overlayed with rendered cracks which continued onto the actual floor through the use of contour-cut floor graphics. The end result, when viewed from the proper angle was successful in creating the desired illusion. We rule!

Schizophrenia Is The New Ad Gimmick

Walking westward on Prince St. between Mulberry and Mott Streets, I heard a woman’s voice in my head whispering, “Who’s there? Who’s there?” Not like I “heard” a woman’s voice like when I wear flared jeans with skinny shoes and I “hear” a woman’s voice in my head say, “Wait, you’ve got to be kidding?” but like an actual woman’s voice in my head. This usually means I’ve had a psychotic break.

But! Then I noticed that, above a billboard for some A&E show called Paranormal State were some speakers that looked like hypersonic sound beams, a device which uses your skull as a speaker—that is, it transmits soundwaves that resonate against whatever surface they hit.

So when they hit your head, it sounds like the call is coming from the inside the brain-house.

The billboard says 73% of Americans believe and I’m assuming that that means 73% of Americans believe in ghosts. So if that’s true, why try to convert the skeptical/not crazy 27% by beaming voices into their heads? That’s just greedy. Also it leads to a lingering sense of serious mental violation. How soon will it be until in addition to the Do Not Call list, we’ll have a Do Not Beam Commercial Messages Into My Head list?

bluemedia Among “Best Places to Work,” Others Disappear

Friday, December 14th, 2007

BestCompaniesAZ’s annual Best Places to Work came out today and bluemedia was the only Valley marketing firm to make this year’s list. (Congrats guys!)

This is a little surprising since several firms made the list last year. Moses Anshell was even named the Valley’s top Small Business. Off Madison Ave scored high and proudly lists the logo on their website. McMurry won in 2003 and ranked high in ‘06. Lavidge seems to be having a great year. Riester?

So where are these firms this year? Where are the other rising stars? Knowing people at all the above firms, I know they’re no less great to work at and for.

So…. Was it too much work to participate for too little ROI? Is it enough just to win once and brag forever? Was there such a shortage of talent that this award no longer merits as a marketing device? Were efforts put instead toward other popularity awards such as Ranking Arizona? Was it the thought and expense of sitting through yet another ”you’re a finalist so buy a table” chicken puck lunch?

Or did everyone simply tie for 31st this year?

Bluemedia Stairwell // US Airways Center

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

Securing a sponsorship with the Phoenix Suns for the 2007-2008 made Bluemedia the Preferred Signage Provider of the Phoenix Suns. Adding another monumental achievement to our already banner year in 2007.

In the deal with the Suns we were given a 2 – 50ft. stairwell pillars on the North East side of the Arena. This stair well space proposed a unique challenge to our creative team as well as the installers.

Our directives were to communicate our products and services in a fun and interactive way.

The finished product exceeded all of our expectations!

Thanks to everyone involved!

Jackrabbit Soiree

Monday, December 10th, 2007

Owner of Jackrabbit Lounge in Scottsdale and good friend of RJ’s, John Dolan, had a 1950’s Soiree Saturday December 8th.

The party was held at a beautiful million dollar retro-style mansion on the hillside of Camelback Mountain in Scottsdale.

Along with the panorama view, party goers mingled dressed to kill in 1950’s inspired suits and cocktail dresses.

The soiree was open bar service and the three story patio in the back was lined with heaters allowing people to enjoy the amazing scenic view of downtown Phoenix while sipping the cocktail of their choice. Also, on the second story of the patio, there was a large movie screen for entertainment.

The DJ rocked the party all night long and at around midnight the red carpeted line to get into the party went from the front door entrance all the way up the steep driveway and down the street.  The party was definitely the place to be in Scottsdale on Saturday night and I had a blast.

Thanks RJ and John!

A Dutch design firm has recently patented a new way of ensuring marketers that their brands will soar to new heights. Enter the Shopping Kite – custom printed plastic bags that transforms into real flying kites.

What a cool way to extend the brand experience beyond point of purchase.
