Hear it. . .Smell it. . .and Feel it

Monday, February 25th, 2008

The second stop on the NHRA Powerade Series 2008 schedule, is the 24th annual Checker Schuck’s Kragen NHRA Nationals at Firebird Int’l Raceway outside of Phoenix. It was a full weekend of beer drinking, picture taking and people watching. Witnessing these cars blast down the track at 320 plus miles per hours is one of the most unique experiences in all motorsports.

These photos are of the bluemedia sponsored Jim Head Toyota Funny Car. We designed, printed and Right On Custom installed the lighting bolt design at the track on Friday. Overall Jim ran a great weekend making all the way to the semi finals. Then Jack Beckman in/ the ValvolineMail Terminal Series Dodge ended the bid of Jim Head’s Toyota, which smoked the tires early. Beckman went on to beat Robert Hight in the AAA car in the finals to take home the money.

Here are some of our photos from the weekend

Design Department Off-Site Creative Retreat

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

Brandon, Joe, Keal, Jeremy, Mike, Will, Dennis and Darren spent the afternoon in our yearly off-site creative meeting. We continued with tradition this year and held the meeting at the Orpheum Lofts board room. Then followed up with 8 tickets to the Phoenix Suns VS Los Angeles Lakers in Shaq’s 1st start as a Phoenix Sun.

The 5 hour retreat agenda consisted of Training, Company Updates, New Hire Feedback, Working Smarter Within Departments and ended with a Career Lifeline Exercise that shared a great insight on everyones path that lead them to bluemedia.

All of us knew that the best part of the half day workshop is the post-retreat Phx Suns game. So in preparation for the big game we made 3ft tall Shaq heads and Shaq-Fu cut out signs.

Needless to say walking around Us Airways Arena with giant Shaq heads and signs caught a lot of attention.

We were interviewed and photographed by every local radio and new station in town, and just about every fan at the game. Dennis was the Suns spoke person for the design team and fielded all of the questions from the media, like a pro.

So all in all we had a great meeting and even better post party. I have to say bluemedia truly values their employees and provides the best working environment for us creative designers. We are an award winning design team that collects many awards from the design, digital printing and advertising industry.

In closing, we like to set the bar high for ourselves and the other departments. It’s going to be hard topping this years Creative Retreat. Not only did we team build and learn how to work better and smarter as a department, but we made the front cover of the Arizona Republic Newspaper the following morning.

Now I call that a success!

Here is the Republic Article on AzCentral.com

The fun doesn’t stop after the game, Shaq makes his way into Seamus Mccaffrey’s

Creative Escalator Advertising

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Here’s an escalator that shows what the impact of changing your haircut can be. The face at the bottom of the escalator remains the same but as the stairs move downwards they show different looks on top of that face. Anyway, watch the video.

Here is a quick little slideshow we put together showcasing the work we did for Superbowl XLII and surrounding events. Our crew worked like crazy in the weeks prior to the big game and you might spot a few of them here. Scott Hibler looks like he had a good time at Carmen Electra’s Leather & Lace party. Enjoy!
