The Monsters of NASCAR

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Goodby Silverstien and Partners selected bluemedia to produce 24 NASCAR replica wraps to be used in the premier commercial announcing the change from the Nextel Cup to the Sprint Cup for the 2008-2009 NASCAR season. Heat and The Kingdom director Michael Mann got the nod to direct this one-of-a-kind spot.

In typical bluemedia fashion, the project had to be completed in 8 days. The blue crew hustled as usual to pull together the design and printing of over 1,000 graphic pieces to make these mean machines look exactly like their real world counterparts. Right down to the contingency decals and headlights, the bluemedia team worked with Michelle Mintz of GS&P to insure that each car was created to meet NASCAR and sponsor requirements.

As with every great action scene … there has to be a little metal carnage. We are proud to say that in this case … it was pretty amazing to watch our work get destroyed.

Here is the final one minute commercial

Congratulations to Goodby Silverstien, Mr. Mann and the entire creative and production staff, this is truly an exciting and theatrical commercial from start to finish.

Here are some behind the scenes photos of the vehicle graphic install and a great gallery of each stock car that was used in the commercial.

Razor Sharp Ice Machine

Friday, March 28th, 2008

It’s not often that we see a Zamboni machine wrap turn our heads. Mostly because of the challenging angles and overall shape of the on ice vehicle. This ice resurfacing machine in Sydney, Australia’s largest ice arena was wrapped with a Schick Quattro Razor.

bluemedia is no stranger to these ice machines back in 2005 we wrapped a Phoenix Coyotes Zamboni machine for Ace Asphalt (Below). We designed , printed and installed this Zamboni machine to look like a asphalt dump truck. For added effect we even attached 2 chrome exhaust pipes.

Bluemedia Invades Firebird

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

Click image above for more photos.

It was the bluemedia Nationals featuring the NHRA on February 22nd at Firebird Raceway.  As fans entered, ready to fill the stands, they walked underneath the first bluemedia banner towering above them in the entrance way.  The fans roared as engines started and their eyes filled with the Nitrous in the air.

A second bluemedia sign lined up behind the starting line as our racecar, driven by Jim Head, was ready to tear up the track.  The bluemedia skull was in almost every ESPN shot, along with a few great clients like Budweiser and Speedco, a spot where people were getting a closeup of what bluemedia can do as they toured the trailer.

Everything was down to the wire, but we over at blue were able to put together a great weekend full of fans, speed, and good old fashioned racing!

Thanks to everyone who made the weekend rock!

Livin’ Large Travolta Style

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

The Galleria was home to John Travolta for the evening of February 2nd, in the midst of Superbowl Madness in Phoenix, AZ.  bluemedia surrounded the excitement with banners as well as other signage done for the event.

It was a night filled with glamour, dancing, and celebrity appearances.

The man of the evening, John Travolta, mingled and shook hands with fans including the bluemedia crew.  Cirque de Soleil started the evening with entertainment on the dance floor while people dined on delicious food courtesy of Flemings Steakhouse.  The evening closed with a performance by REO Speedwagon, which had the crowd on their feet for hours on the dance floor.

It was a unique event that bluemedia was able to transform into a spectacular evening.

Bluemedia Sponsoring Good Causes

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

bluemedia is more than happy to be amongst the charity season here in Arizona.  The great weather has people out hiking and walking for good causes left and right.  The whole crew got together to support the Climb to Conquer Cancer on February 23rd at South Mountain.

The following weekend, bluemedia sponsored the Hike for the Homeless, put on by Saint Joseph the Worker at Estrella Mountain.  The hike was record breaking for the charity and really showed Arizona’s support to those with needs.

The hike had a great guest speaker, snacks, and beautiful sunshine.  bluemedia was very happy to be a sponsor!

bluemedia Celebrates with a Silver Addy

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

Last Saturday March 1st the American Advertising Federation held it’s 23rd Annual Phoenix ADDY Awards in Scottsdale. The ADDYs are the advertising industry’s largest competition, recognizing and rewarding creative excellence. Bluemedia took home a Silver Addy for the Art One / Tempe Market Place Window and Floor Graphics. Tempe Marketplace a Vestar development was a huge projected managed by sales rep Andy Salcido, Brandy Hopkins and Tug Orr. Design Director Will Mejia used the Art One Space to be a little more creative with our traditional window graphics application and extended the paint onto the floor using our super durable and adhesive floor graphics.

Blind Society (the consumer marketing agency spawned from the creative minds at bluemedia and former Santy creative director Jim Clark) collected a total of 7 addys. 4 of the addys received were for the Phoenix Coyotes campaign including the “Hockey Face” mirror cling (below) that won a Silver Addy in the Non-Traditional Advertising category. The clings were digitally printed, hand cut, and installed by bluemedia.

Cramer-Krasselt was the big winner at the awards show this year taking home a total of 40 Addys including Best of Show and Art Director of the year award. C-K recieved a Silver Addy for the Toyota Wall Mural inside US Airways Center (below). The mural was a challenging project for Cramer-Krasselt who hired bluemedia to execute the concept. Chris Keal, bluemedia’s Brand Director /Photoshop Master, meticulously illustrated and composited the mural. Keal and our bluemedia president Jared Smith paid special attention to the alignment of the floor tiles and cracks making sure they fell into perfect position. The mural can be see at any Phoenix Suns home game or any event at the US Airways Center, just look for the Toyota Club.

Once again the Addys awards were a success for bluemedia, Blind Society and many of our agency clients.

Here a quick wrap up from the Business Journal about this years competition.

OK . . . Now back to work everyone!

Bluemedia developed this program for Olsen Events Group, which Hewlett Packard (HP) contracted to develop digital graphics that promote HP’s Scitex brand at a company event.
