It’s not often the design team can contribute to new business development but occasionally we do.
Last week I ordered breakfast from The Hero Factory a new breakfast/lunch destination at the Orpheum Lofts building on 1st Ave and Adams in downtown phoenix. Jay and Nicole the owners of The Hero Factory have owned and operated deli‘s in New York for over 30 years. They have been welcomed by the downtown business crowd by serving up over 350 daily lunch customers.
After telling them about bluemedia the brainstorming began. Jay told me his vision of a Times Square wall mural that would work perfectly in the space. I returned the next day with a sales packet and told them to think about it.
Over the weekend bluemedia held it’s annual Spring Cleaning!! YAY! About 30 employees were on hand to help move, reorganize, and get dirty. As I was throwing away old end rolls and sample materials I came across a few Floor Graphic samples. They were giant NYC sewer manhole covers that have been collecting dust for years. Remembering my recent visit to the New York Style Hero Factory I held back 2 of the samples.

The following weekday I gave Jay and Nicole the graphics and gave them a squeegee vinyl application tool and told them to , WORK IT OUT. They immediately applied both of the graphics and customers have been raving. What is really funny is that many of our downtown clients like Wells Fargo, The Business Journal, Suns, Diamondbacks and the Phoenix Police Department will probably eat lunch there and recognize our work.
What could have been just a friendly relationship, turned out to be a new business lead and free advertising, all for gifting some free material that was headed for the dumpster anyway.
