Photosynth Design Room
Thursday, August 28th, 2008This is our first attempt at using Microsofts new technology called “Photosynth” that allows you to take many random images and it stitches them all together for you……
Photosynth is a potent mixture of two independent breakthroughs: the ability to reconstruct the scene or object from a bunch of flat photographs, and the technology to bring that experience to virtually anyone over the Internet.
Using techniques from the field of computer vision, Photosynth examines images for similarities to each other and uses that information to estimate the shape of the subject and the vantage point the photos were taken from. With this information, we recreate the space and use it as a canvas to display and navigate through the photos.
Providing that experience requires viewing a LOT of data though—much more than you generally get at any one time by surfing someone’s photo album on the web. That’s where our Seadragon™ technology comes in: delivering just the pixels you need, exactly when you need them. It allows you to browse through dozens of 5, 10, or 100(!) megapixel photos effortlessly, without fiddling with a bunch of thumbnails and waiting around for everything to load.

Toronto Photography Festival Utilizes Textured Surface Vinyl
Friday, July 25th, 2008Supporters of Contact, the Toronto Photography Festival come together to create some outstanding public installations for the largest photography event worldwide.
Beyond Digital Imaging printed the visuals on 3M Scotchcal Graphic Film for Textured Surface. This vinyl is amazing, when it’s heated it can mold itself in the cracks of the wall and be one with the surface.
We are big fans of this material, it has changed the way we think about wall murals. Here’s our post about this vinyl last year. We also used this material to wrap 2 four story stairwells at the US Airways Center for the Phoenix Suns.
No wall is safe as long as this vinyl exists.

Milk’s Favorite Cookie
Monday, July 21st, 2008The traditional dunk of an Oreo cookie into a glass of milk was dramatized with the use of a panoramic elevator in a shopping mall. This attention-grabbing use of new media gave us one more way to show that Oreo is milk’s favorite cookie.

MadMen takes over NYC Subway
Tuesday, July 15th, 2008The New York subway system takes full advantage of their ad space by selling it to AMC to promote the 2nd season of MadMen.
Madmen is a show about advertising based in the 60’s. Being a fan of the AMC series this application of adhesive vinyl brings a smile to my face. It’s undoubtetly the best subway transformation I have ever seen.

Here’s a great opportunity for Bloomingdale’s to capitalize on the promotion. Offering up their window displays to promote the show, with their spin of course using modern fashions from Theory. As Michael Kors showed us last week in his MadMen inspire runway show, cross promotion for this series has set the bar to a whole new level.
Gawker thanks for pointing us here.
Bass Fishing with bluemedia on Board
Thursday, July 10th, 2008The 2008 Under Armour College Bass National Championship was July 9-11 on Lake Maumelle in Little Rock, Ark. Two-man teams from 54 colleges and universities from across the country competed in the nation’s most prestigious collegiate bass fishing.
bluemedia teamed up with the Arizona State Bass Fishing Team to create a bad-ass fishing boat that traveled from Tempe, AZ to Arkansas for the competition.
Boat graphics have become the new wave of creative branding across the nation and bluemedia is not afraid to share the love when it comes to designing, printing, and installing these watersport monsters.
