Books on the brain?

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Visitors to the Liberty Bridge Park in downtown Greenville, South Carolina couldn’t help but have books on the brain as over¬sized literary classics lined a fountain, an electric box became a book shelf, and The Grapes of Wrath transformed into a park bench.

Sukle Makes a Splash With Denver Water [Agency Props]

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

In the past “Use Only What You Need” campaigns have really worked in Denver. Denver Water had a goal of lowering water use 21% in 10 years, and in just two they’ve already lowered it 20%. So, this year they spent time re-emphasizing the base idea of using only what you need (i.e. don’t waste)  and Sukle Advertising did a great job spreading the message.

They introduced some simple conservation tips, such as not watering between 10am and 6pm and Utalized just about every media outlet possible including a couple 10 second bumpers. Watch them here and here.

They most exciting part of the campaign are the creative outdoor billboards, non-traditional street teams and rarely seen super market conveyor belt advertising. A new ad space that is growing.

Good luck Denver Water and nice work Sukle!

Once again thanks Ad’s of the World for the lead.

Stop by Sukle’s blog and see what they have going on.

Toronto Photography Festival Utilizes Textured Surface Vinyl

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Supporters of Contact, the Toronto Photography Festival come together to create some outstanding public installations for the largest photography event worldwide.

Beyond Digital Imaging printed the visuals on 3M Scotchcal Graphic Film for Textured Surface. This vinyl is amazing, when it’s heated it can mold itself in the cracks of the wall and be one with the surface.

We are big fans of this material, it has changed the way we think about wall murals. Here’s our post about this vinyl last  year.  We also used this material to wrap 2 four story stairwells at the US Airways Center for the Phoenix Suns.

No wall is safe as long as this vinyl exists.

Green Cement Trucks Unveil With Hippie Graphics

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Concrete companies are among the nation’s most energy-intensive but are tackling their poor reputation head on with a symbolic move from diesel to natural gas-powered cement mixers.

A fleet of the “green” mixers, wrapped in colourful flower-power designs, took to the streets in Australia yesterday to promote Boral’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint.

Milk’s Favorite Cookie

Monday, July 21st, 2008

The traditional dunk of an Oreo cookie into a glass of milk was dramatized with the use of a panoramic elevator in a shopping mall. This attention-grabbing use of new media gave us one more way to show that Oreo is milk’s favorite cookie.

MadMen takes over NYC Subway

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

The New York subway system takes full advantage of their ad space by selling it to AMC to promote the 2nd season of MadMen.

Madmen is a show about advertising based in the 60’s. Being a fan of the AMC series this application of adhesive vinyl brings a smile to my face. It’s undoubtetly the best subway transformation I have ever seen.

Here’s a great opportunity for Bloomingdale’s to capitalize on the promotion. Offering up their window displays to promote the show, with their spin of course using modern fashions from Theory. As Michael Kors showed us last week in his MadMen inspire runway show, cross promotion for this series has set the bar to a whole new level.

Gawker thanks for pointing us here.

Portland Farmer’s Market Transforms City Trees Into Carrots

Monday, June 30th, 2008

To promote a local farmer’s market, Portland, Oregon-based Owen Jones & Partners placed plastic linings in the shape of carrots around the bottoms of several trees on a city block. In addition to the linings which make the trees look like carrots, the agency also placed placards over the antennae of automobiles throughout the city making them look like scrumptious barbecued vegetable skewers.
