The Esports Wave is Alive and Well in Texas
Esports are more popular than you might realize. Revenue in 2017 hit $655 million and is expected to exceed $900 million for 2018. It’s no wonder cities like Arlington, Texas are both hosting and dedicating facilities to professional gaming tournaments.
Building player pods for tournaments is a custom job, and Arlington Esports needed it done correctly and efficiently to meet the approaching deadline for its first featured tournament in its new facility. Design of the pods and the spaces they were to occupy required precise fabrication, much of which would need to be completed onsite, instead of in a fabrication facility. Along with the pods, they needed game stations on the stage, along with entrance tunnels for gamers. Populous, the architecture/design firm for the stadium, came to bluemedia for the required custom millwork and furniture fabrication. We worked alongside Shawmut Design and Construction to complete the work.
Normally bluemedia would fabricate everything in our facility and ship it all to the arena for installation. The intricacy of the design required us to fabricate much of the work at the arena in place. In order to maintain our tight schedule and ensure perfect execution, additional pre-planning was required.
We completed the work in time for the tournament. We fabricated and installed 12 desks for the main stage, plus three gamer pods with space for six gamers at each pod, an illuminated player tunnel for the players to walk through to the main stage, and some informational light boxes for the facility. Play on!
We can’t thank you enough for what you did for our party at Lucky Strike. The compliments on your work was beyond recognized with our top management. You guys were so great to work with!
