When it comes to winning, the ASU football team has a one-track mind, and they won’t settle for anything but the best! The phrase “One goal. Champions.” is featured across ASU’s new Student-Athlete Facility signage, from the lobby to the weight room. It’s all part of a larger facility-wide rebranding, such as the rebranding of the Phoenix Municipal Stadium for the baseball team, implemented by bluemedia, over the last decade.
After bluemedia won the bidding process to work with Trinity Works and Infinite Scale Design Group to modernize ASU’s Student Athlete Facility (SAF), the national signage company fabricated and installed all décor inside the 118,669 square foot building—including the main auditorium, player’s lounge, coaching offices, meeting rooms, hallways and more. Now, every student, athlete, faculty member, and guest who walks in the SAF lobby will see that famous phrase: “One Goal. Champions.” in yellow and white, above a modern wood reception desk. The same phrase is also highlighted in large black and yellow block letters in the weight room—and with each letter being roughly five feet tall, they span nearly 90 feet wide all together.
Sun Devil football awards and achievements are celebrated across the SAF building, including recent bowl games, Pac-12 Football All-Conference Award Winners, and Academic All-American Award Winners, as well as a timeline of wins throughout the years. There’s also an impressive tribute to Sun Devils who went on to play in the NFL—sorted by AFC and NFC—and includes helmets of each team with a list of names underneath.
For further motivation, words such as ‘Character’ and ‘Discipline’ are carved out alongside graphics of players in the locker room, and each player’s locker is identified with a bright yellow name tag above a modern black and silver Sun Devil symbol.
The Tillman Tunnel, of course, is a stand out piece—when ASU football players leave the locker room to enter the stadium this year, they’ll run past a huge wall graphic memorializing Pat Tillman, and the words “The heart of a champion.”
As a grand-scale project with a short time frame, everyone from the design department to project managers, finishers to fabricators were involved in pulling everything together. In total, nearly eighty bluemedia team members worked on the new Student-Athlete Facility signage, from June right up until football season started—and with a half-dozen installers on site every day during that period, the effort was certainly worth it. A win all around!
I just wanted to thank you. I know this project was demanding, but everything turned out great and Kevin loved the graphics package that was provided.
