Celebrating A New Corporate Sponsorship With Sugar Skull Rum Custom Branded Environment

After the Orlando Magic signed a new branding partnership with Sugar Skull Rum as the ‘drink of choice at the Orlando Magic Games’, removal of the old partner graphics from the indoor/outdoor bar and patio area would need to be completed quickly. As the preferred signage vendor of the Orlando Magic, bluemedia was asked to refresh the custom branded environment at the team’s home court arena, the Amway Center. The new space would feature custom designed vinyl graphics and several fabricated elements to prominently feature the new corporate sponsor.

Located in downtown Orlando, the Amway Center is a modern sports and event venue with 20,000 seats. Much of the space around the arena reflects partnerships with brands and local companies, and the patio, which overlooks downtown Orlando, is open before, during, and after arena events. The bluemedia team surveyed the bar and patio space and came up with design ideas to expand the brand décor and entice Orlando Magic fans. Sugar Skull Rum encourages customers to celebrate life (responsibly), and their bold, bright, brand illustrates that philosophy. bluemedia worked within the brand’s approved standards to concept to create an exciting new custom branded environment for arena guests: the Sugar Skull Rum Landing.

To that end, the bar area features the name ‘Sugar Skull Rum Landing’ lit up, flanked by two wood columns with illuminated skull signs. On the side of that is another, larger skull sign with multi-colored LED lights, which has the added advantage of being seen from the local highway – talk about making a brand statement! The next bar area and nearby aluminum mesh panels are covered in vinyl-wrapped paneling in the Orlando Magic colors. The outdoor bar table tops and frosted vinyl doors also feature Sugar Skull Rum branding.

It took four certified installers a little less than five days to complete this installation. Because of the Orlando Magic’s schedule and other arena events, it was divided into two phases. Phase one of the project was décor, and phase two was the structural illuminated signs.

The best possible outcome to any project is a happy client – and in this case, bluemedia impressed not only the Orlando Magic, but their partner, Sugar Skull Rum, as well — a slam dunk in any sense!
