Imagine the beauty of swirling colors with the night stars above a winter wonderland, mixed with the roaring crowd of a Super Bowl stadium against the city skyline. Welcome to the #BoldNorth, where the Super Bowl Live Projection Dome captivated visitors and motivated thousands of fans to stand out in the freezing cold for a chance to witness the immersive 3D show inside. At 50 feet wide and 30 feet tall, the projection dome, wrapped in a massive, eye-catching Super Bowl LIVE branded-display that acted as a billboard and attracted a lot of attention, boasted 52 seats inside for fans to watch the animated show produced by bluemedia.
Commissioned by the NFL, bluemedia partnered with GMR Marketing to create the immersive 360-degree live theater experience for fans, and although only four minutes long, the 3D show made a big impression! The video projection started with the Northern Lights, and took viewers through the Minnesota wilderness. Then, it began to intermix the beauty of the local landscape with modern football moments, where, above snow-capped pine trees, a player makes a catch and the Vince Lombardi trophy flashes briefly. Finally, the show ended on the field at U.S. Bank Stadium with a front-row seat to the Super Bowl LII coin toss.
The NFL dreamed up the ‘#BoldNorth’ show theme, and bluemedia ran with it to creatively incorporate Super Bowl highlights and build fan excitement while showcasing the bold (and cold) beauty of Minnesota. It took roughly four months for the bluemedia team to concept the story and produce the animation from start to finish in preparation for the unveiling of the Super Bowl Live Projection Dome.
More than 27,000 fans saw the show during the week leading up to Super Bowl LII, so regardless of which team they were rooting for on Game Day, we considered that 27,000 wins!
