Once upon a time, the Orlando Magic partnered with Walt Disney World to make fans’ dreams come true, and bluemedia was brought in to produce environmental signage for the Walt Disney World Terrace at the team’s home court arena, the Amway Center.
Located in downtown Orlando, the Amway Center is a large, modern event center with 20,000 seats. The terrace space previously featured Southwest Airlines artwork, so the Magic, as part of their partnership with Walt Disney World, asked bluemedia to survey the space and then work with Disney to measure, fabricate and install all of the new art.
A bright red and pink castle cut out of acrylic with vinyl welcomes visitors as they enter into the arena seating area. Surrounded by silver stars on the wall, the castle stands at an impressive six feet tall. Further into the Walt Disney World Terrace is a vinyl wall wrap with the words, “Where dreams come true.” The back-bar areas inside the terrace suites are also lit up in purple, green and blue stars – adding a little more magic to each game experience.
Across from that is the entrance into the suites, featuring bold, colored wall graphics with well-known Disney World icons – from the Spaceship Earth sphere at Epcot to tea cups and the animated character that started it all, Mickey Mouse. Just above, an aluminum header sign lights the branded terrace entrance. From inside the arena, fans can’t miss the 28′ wide, 8′ tall colorful backlit pink and red Walt Disney World sign, highlighted by a golden yellow castle with fireworks.
It took just a few days for bluemedia to install the Walt Disney World Terrace environmental signage, despite having to work around the busy arena event schedule. In the end, it was a magical transformation thanks to the hard-working teams involved, and everyone loved the new branded terrace. Here’s to a happily ever after for the Orlando Magic and Walt Disney World!
I wanted to thank you for getting this project completed on time. All of the signage looks great. The store is open and selling cars like crazy.
